Ground Nut Chikki / Peanut Chikki


Chikki making can be tricky, you have to give hand once or twice to master it. Initially prepare them in small quantities and once you are comfortable, prepare in large quantities and store in air tight container. Ground nut Chikki is good source of iron and protein it is healthy and nutritious.

Ground Nut Chikki / Peanut Chikki


Category –Vegetarian

Ingredients

Ground nuts 1 cup
Jaggery (gud) ¾ cup
Ghee 2 tsp

Method

Roast ground nuts, remove the peel and roughly crush them. Cool and keep aside. Heat ghee in a add jaggery to it; let it simmer over low flame till it caramelizes. To test take one spoon of caramelized jaggery and drop it in cold water, it should form hard ball.  

Add the roasted ground nut, mix it well with melted jaggery, turn off the heat.

Grease flat plate with 1 tsp of ghee; pour the prepared mixture over it.  Roll it with rolling pin to roll thin sheets. When cool, cut into squares, store it in air tight containers.

Variation- Sesame seed chikki (til chikki) can be used instead of peanuts.
