Ingredients

Split bengal gram (chana dal) 300 gms
Jaggery 300 gms
Cardamom powder (elaichi powder) 1 tsp
All purpose flour (maida) 150 gms
Ghee 1 tbsp
Grated coconut 100 gms
Warm water for kneading
Ghee

Method

Cook dal in a heavy bottom vessel till it goes soft but does not get broken. Drain in a colander and mash dal well. Mash jaggery (gud) and mix it well with the dal. Now again cook it in heavy saucepan till it forms a soft lump. Stir continuously and add cardamom powder (elaichi powder) and grated coconut. Keep the mixture aside.

In a vessel knead dough by mixing flour with little ghee and water. See that the dough is soft and pliable. Take small size ball and roll it into 4” round. Place a ball of the prepared filling in the centre. Lift the entire round and seal it. Re-roll to form 6”diameter circle. Roast on pan by generously applying ghee on both sides. Serve hot.
