Double ka Meetha / Bread ka Meetha / Sweetened Bread


Double ka Meetha is a Hyderbadi recipe, made with fresh milk bread cooked in milk with condensed milk topped with generous sprinkling of almonds.

Ingredients

Milk bread 250 gms
Sugar 200 gms
Milk 100 ml
Dry fruits chopped ½ cups
Condensed milk 1 tbsp
Khoya 1 tbsp
Saffron (Kesar) 7-8 strands
Orange Food color ¼ tsp
Silver foil (warq)
Almonds 8-10 nos for garnishing
Milk 1 cup
Ghee

Method

Remove the bread sides and cut it into pieces. Heat ghee in a pan and fry the bread till it turns light brown. Keep the roasted bread in a separate bowl. In another pan boil milk and pour it over the bread pieces.

In another pan boil 1 cup milk add sugar and keep stirring till it dissolves completely. Pour this over the bread pieces. Cook again this bread mix over low flame till the milk gets absorbed. Remove from heat mix khoya, dry fruits, orange food color and condensed milk. Blend well. Finally garnish with chopped almonds and silver foil.
