Sweet Potato Wheelies / Shakkarkand ki Chakli

Every tried making chaklis of shakkarkand or sweet potato. Its easy, sweet, made with all purpose flour, sweet potatoes with subtle hint of cardamom. Makes, tasty evening tea time munchies.

Sweet Potato Wheelies / Shakkarkand ki Chakli

Sweet potato (shakkarkand) ½ kg boiled and peeled
All purpose flour (Maida) 1 cup
Sugar ½ cup powdered
Cardamom powder (elaichi powder) ½ tsp
Cloves (lavang) powdered 2-3
Water for kneading
Oil for frying


Mash the sweet potatoes. Add powdered sugar, Cardamom powder (elaichi powder), and Cloves (lavang) powder and mix well. Keep this mixture aside.

Make stiff dough by adding water in small quantity to all purpose flour (Maida). Leave the dough for 30 minutes. Divide the dough into equal parts and roll them out in form of thick chapattis.

Now spread small portion of the prepared sweet potato mix over this chapatti. Roll it up and let them set for few minutes in room temperature. Or else you can refrigerate them for 10 minutes.

Now cut ½ inch thick wheels, heat oil in a pan and deep fry till they turn golden brown. Remove excess oil in absorbent paper and Serve.
