Thalipeeth


Thalipeeth is healthy Indian bread made from various kinds of flours. It can be made in variety of ways I am giving you my version of Thalipeeth. It is basically Maharashtrian recipe the multi grain adds to it nutrient value.

Ingredients

For Bhajani Flour

Rice ½ kg
Whole black gram (urad dal) 152 gms
Dried black peas / Bengal gram (kala chana/ desi chana) 125 gms
Sorghum (jowar) 125 gms
Wheat (ghenhu) 125 gms
Pearl millet (bajra) 125 gms
Moth beans (matki beans) 125 gms
Coriander seeds (sabut dhania) 1 tbsp
Fenugreek seeds (methi dane) 1 tsp

For the Dough

Onion 1, chopped
Turmeric powder (haldi) ½ tsp
Garam masala powder 1 tsp
Red chilli powder (lal mirch powder) 1 tsp
Salt to taste
Asafetida (heeng) 1 pinch
Oil for shallow frying

Method

Roast the bhajani flour ingredients and grind them to flour. Mix the flour with the dough ingredients and add 2 tbsp of heated oil. Knead into dough by adding little water; see that the dough is stiff. Divide dough into equal portions roll them on floured surface into thick parathas. Heat pan (tawa) put the rolled out dough and cook both the sides applying butter or oil, till they turn light brown on both the sides serve hot with curries or chutneys
