Paneer or cottage cheese is one of the most popular ingredients used in Indian delicacies. Paneer can be used in curries, snacks and any rice recipe. It can bring twist to the most humble simple recipe.
Paneer Pakodas / Paneer ke Pakode
Paneer (cottage cheese) 200 gms
Peppercorns (kali mirch) 8-10
Coriander leaves (dhania leaves) 1 bunch
Bengal gram (chana dal) 1 cup
Red chilli powder (lal mirch powder) 1 tsp
Asafetida (hing) 1 pinch
Salt to taste
Oil for frying
Dice the paneer into 1” cubes. Grind peppercorns (kali mirch), coriander leaves (dhania leaves) and salt into paste. Slice the paneer cube lengthwise and apply the paste in between the two pieces and keep it aside. Make smooth batter with bengal gram (chana dal), salt, red chilli powder (lal mirch powder) and water. Dip the paneer cubes and fry in hot oil. Remove excess oil in absorbent paper. Paneer Pakodas could be served with sauce or chutney.
